First Snowfall of the Season!

So fun to have the first snowfall come our way.
Coop had a wonky sleep schedule for the past week,
so when the snow came down after 10pm,
he was awake to enjoy it.
Luckily, he just received a snowsuit for his birthday...
he couldn't get that thing on fast enough!
Made a rough night instantly joy-filled and light hearted!

Looking forward to more snow this year.

Blessings to you,

Defenders...of what? Who's your Superhero?

11:11 on 11/11/

Moving on...
Nothing like putting a sibling in front of and behind the lens.
You start getting all goofy and such.
(And my brother seriously has the coolest photography toys...
like big ol' umbrella looking lights and know how when it comes to his fun.)

Here, husband and I struck some sort of Superhero pose.
But I'm not sure that any one else would know that by looking at us.
I'd say Brian pretty much looks like he's about to jet off to your left and save the world.
My stance says more, "Back off, or I will raise my hand and
use my superforce to lift you up and tickle you silly."
Kinda the look I give Cooper all the time.

My brother wanted to call this photo...Defenders.
Sounds so solid, heroic...worthy of honor.
But then I looked at it again.
Defenders of what?  Looking and acting ridiculously?
Being goofy and silly?  Looking like you are going to lay the smack down?
I told him you could call it...
We look ridiculous and know it.  Whatcha gonna do about it?

Oh the fun of taking pictures with the fam.
I could have stood out there all day long...
snapping away and posing like a goofball.

Good times.

Luckily for us, we already have a Superhero in our lives.
Sure, the everyday human heroes (couragious folks, first responders, military,
doctors, teachers, parents, and so many more) are inspiring and deserve
praise and honor, and we should be ever grateful for their service and sacrifice.
But when it comes down to rescuing, a true rescue from death, we have
the ultimate Superhero, going before us, fighting for us, defending our honor,
and worthy of all the praise and glory we could muster up from every ounce of our being.

And not only is He our superhero, but he's also our Savior.
There is no other.  He is the ultimate, one and only.

This scripture came to mind as I thought about Superheroes and God fighting for us...
The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against
the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this
dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil
comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done
everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled
around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and
with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can
extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of
salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  18 And
pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6: 10-18

But you will not leave in haste or go in flight;
for the LORD will go before you,
the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

Isaiah 52: 12

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.
Exodus 14: 14

Hope you find a moment to capture a memory with your family
and thank your real life Superhero for his never-ending grace and mercy.

Big hugs and lots of love...hope you are enjoying life today!

PS - Bigtime craziness is going down up in this house!  This is the month of jam-packed family/life/fun/celebrations/birthdays/holidays squished into one month.  My Dad, husband, two nephews, and son have their birthdays spread throughout the month.  Throw in our out of town guests (college buddies...yay!) coming soon, and Thanksgiving...this gal's mind is racing, and I don't think it will stop anytime soon.  The blogorama ding dong might be a little slow for a while...and wouldn't ya know, I still haven't gotten around to a pumpkin goodness post.  Eeek!  Here's to hoping I can get to it before November is over.  :)

Happy Birthday Daddio...and Fun In The Leaves!

We had fun celebrating Dad's birthday today!
I feel so lucky...Dad, you're the stinkin' coolest guy I know.
We are all better for being loved by you.
You are and will forever be my hero!

Thanks to my brother for taking some fun pictures today!
We didn't have time to do much with editing,
but good stuff none the less.

Love you all my dear family!

I won't tell you that I was standing right by my brother telling the kids to
count my boogers how I got them to smile and all look up at the same time.

Just in case you really want to know how it all goes down...
I'll finish with these lookers.  This is what 99.9% of the pictures we took looked like.

Happy Birthday Dad...what a great day celebrating you!

See you all next weekend for more family birthday adventures!

Lunchtime Letters

Cooper and I like to practice letters at lunchtime...and sometimes even during breakfast.  Such over achievers, I know.  :)  I found a good way to remind myself to bust out the flashcards was to keep them right on the table in a cute little glass vase.  If I need to clear the table for dinner or for having folks over, it's easy enough to move right out of the way.

Little buddy loves it.  Sometimes he even likes to quiz me.  I have to say, I usually get 100% correct.  :)  Lately, he gets a little mixed up with Bb's and Dd's, as well as the Mm's and Nn's.  I don't blame him.  But after a moment of thinking, he gets a kick out of correcting himself.  So great to watch the process of learning.  His cute little facial expressions, like his scrunched up nose when he's not sure or he's thinking, sure don't hurt either.

Good times.  Love seeing his little sponge soak it all up!

How do you practice such things with your wee ones?

Blessings on your day,

Homemade Maple Bars...Wow...I need to make these!

Ummm...yes please!

I know it will take me a while to make these, so I am sharing the image from Our Best Bites.
This is too exciting not to share right now!

Many blessings!
