Advent Day 4: Shopping for Gifts with Samaritan's Purse

We want to make sure we help Cooper understand how important it is to give.
He's a great giver.

He chose feeding babies for a week...and he asked if we could feed 7 babies for a week.
Done buddy, done.

If you are interested in donating through Samaritan's Purse, go HERE!!!

Merry Sunday to you all!

  1. Hi Holly,

I came across your lovely blog tonight (can't remember how exactly), but did "Pin" a bunch of things! I was just wondering if you would share how you made changes, or possibly altered the look of some of the pictures you have taken. I especially love the photo of you that you have on your "about me" page - did you do anything special to the photo? I have Photoshop Elements, but can't quite get the hang of how to alter things.......... just wondering if you did that yourself?

I wish you a very Merry Christmas, and will be back to visit your blog!!!

    Hugs from Michigan - Diane

  2. Hi Diane! What a sweet comment to get. Pretty much made my day...thank you!

Thank you for noticing my About Me picture. I had fun playing with it a little. It was taken at the pumpkin patch this year. I am in no way a photography expert, but really love playing around and experimenting. You are lucky to have Photoshop, as we do not. I know it is a neat program for photo editing. Another program that is great for editing photos is Lightroom. Both my brother and sister-in-law are great photographers and use it regularly. Super great resource.

For this photo in particular, I just used Picasa. We have a DSLR camera, and Picasa is where we store and play with all our photos. It's what we have, so I try to use it. To increase the quality of our photos, what I usually do is play with the fill lighting, highlighting, glow effect, and color (level of cool tones or warm tones). In Picasa, these features and tools are very self explanatory and very easy to use (I think they made it specifically for people like me), and I've been very satisfied. Using what I have to improve specific photos slightly and make them colorful and crisp for the blog is a joy. It's fun, and I seem to enjoy it more and more!

Thanks for stopping by! I so appreciate your sweet words and questions. Love your interest in photography! Go for it!
