Recently, we headed to Portland to see some dear friends from college and catch an NBA basketball game. Portland Trailblazers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder...or the team affectionately known as the Zombie Sonics (Seattle Supersonics) by my husband.
We had a great time and loved seeing our wee ones together. In fact, they were both sporting their must have noise canceling headphones.
I've got to say, these things are awesome. We had been wanting to purchase some for Cooper since he got his drums for Christmas, but just hadn't done it yet. Shame on us. Anyhoo, we knew the basketball game would be a perfect reason to go for it. Cooper has just started to get more comfortable with putting hats and goggles and fun dress up props on when we're playing, so I was hoping he'd be open to wearing these during the game...and not make a big fuss. :) Sometimes you just never know.
As soon as we got there, the booming noise of the crowd and announcers was quite overwhelming, and we busted those headphones out promptly. Cooper loved them and was so obviously thrilled to have them. If we took them off to adjust them, he immediately covered his ears, and said, "Too loud! Put back on!"
Easily adjustable, the headphones fit 3 month old Baby Dot,
as well as 2 year old Super Duper Cooper. Great fit and comfortable.
Mama Abby loved them too!
Even though the Zombie Sonics lost by a few, we still had a great time!
It was so wonderful for us to get out and do something fun and adventurous this weekend. We have really been hunkering down this winter and haven't ventured out a ton, taken many trips, or initiated many family adventures. It was quite a treat. My arthritis was flaring up quite a bit this weekend, which made getting around a little more difficult, but we powered through and managed to enjoy ourselves thoroughly. Here are a few more snapshots from our Portland adventure. We love you Mr. Mike, Miss Abby, Baby Dot, and Habe (Abraham) the kitty cat. Thanks for showing us a good time!
Slappy Cakes for Breakfast - I ate pretty much this entire plate of food...and also got to taste Chicken Fried Bacon covered in caramel sauce. It was delicious. Cooper got to make some pancakes at the table, and although you can't tell by his "I am miserable..." expression, he had a blast. He is beginning to be anti-camera when we bust it out. Have to be a little more discreet I guess.
Mr. Mike got to come with us to OMSI,
and he played the role of family photographer for the day.
Fun...so thankful Mikester!
On our way in...woo hoo!
Coop was so excited!
Coop and Mr. Mike became good buds.
Cooper loved putting on the firefighter costume!
And, wow, what a puppet show we were privy to!
Cooper made this face...in amazement...several times throughout the day.
So fun to see his little brain discovering.
Ready to head to outer space.
My little astronaut.
He was just tickled.
He loved saying...1, 2, 3...Blastoff!
And by lunch time, the kid was zonked.
Got a little loopy after a couple bites.
He said, "Mommy? Mommy?" and appeared dizzy in his chair.
I snagged him and said, "Why don't you lay your head down honey."
And he did.
Out in two seconds.
By the way, that pile of mess on my plate was a big ol' serving of nachos.
So tasty. I love a big ol' pile of mess...as long as it tastes good.
Had any fun adventures lately?
Much love and big hugs,
