Cooper woke up today and used the potty...no problem. We talked about it a bit, and I reminded him to let me know when he needed to go potty. I also asked him several times throughout the morning, and he said no. Then, I took him to the potty without his prompting, and he went again, no problem, but his diaper was wet.
We had one misfire today. No worries. What will the rest of the day bring?
*Edited in the eveing: We had continued success for the rest of the day! Cooper rocked another afternoon of dry diapers and potty usage. This is exciting. It's even got me thinking, as I passed the diapers at Costco the other day, I wondered if I'd be buying any for a while. :)
I know that there are a select few who find the potty progress exciting reading material, and it is for you I am writing...well, you and myself. I am working on this blog being a fun way of recording daily happenings and milestones in order to look back on down the road.
Cooper, you are amazing us daily. You seem to be two steps ahead of us always and are blowing us away with your ability to learn and explore. We are so thankful for you. You make being a parent so much fun!

A Little Worship Time for Cooper
In the middle, he said, "Amen-ah," his way of saying, "Amen." I thought he said, "M&M," and told him no more M&Ms. He looked at me funny and folded his hands, as when he folds them to pray with us. Then I noticed the screen. Cooper saw people praying and worshiping on the video. He was just trying to tell me about it! Duh Mom! I'm sure he wanted to say, pay attention...not everything I say or ask is about food. And then he continued on...dancing and playing some awesome guitar.
This all led to one heck of a dance party for the three of us. It was the best, and Cooper was the cutest little dancer I have ever seen!
12:30pm...and Cooper's Diaper is Dry!
So, this morning, Cooper used the potty three times with success. When we went up for nap time at 12:30, his diaper was completely dry. We both smiled and cheered. He was very proud and knows he's doing a great job.
Wow. This is exciting!
*Edited 3:00pm: I went to greet Cooper when he woke up, and he was grabbing his diaper saying oh no. We went to the potty, and ta-dah...peepee in the potty! Dry diaper also. We changed it though just to freshen up a bit. 3pm and only on second diaper of the day. Cool beans!
*Edited 10:00pm: Cooper managed to keep a dry diaper all day long...ALL DAY! That kind of amazes me really. It was as if something clicked for him today. He initiated the process a few times, and so did I. We had major success all day, and Cooper was acting as if he knew what was going on.
Even with a late car ride home from my parents. My instinct told me to use the potty before leaving their house (even though we had just used the potty at our hosue), but because we were trying to hurry, and when I asked him if he needed to go, he said no, I didn't push it. While in the car, he got very wiggly and kept saying, "No, no, no, uh oh," with frustration. Brian and I explained to him that he had on diaper underwear, and sometimes if we're in the car and can't make it to the potty, it is okay to go potty in the diaper underwear. We encouraged him to hold it if he could and to keep his diaper dry if he could, but that if he needed to go potty, it was absolutely okay. He relaxed and said, "Yeah," all while nodding. He looked relieved. I even asked him if he went potty in his diaper and he told me yes. He was a little fussy from then on out, and we just thought he was tired. We simply tried to keep his attention and make it home quickly.
When we got home, I rushed him to the potty. It seemed a little ridiculous, as he was fussy and tired, and I thought he had already gone to the bathroom in the car. Even still, I thought it couldn't hurt, if only to make the point that you get to the potty as quickly as you can if you can hold it for a whole car ride. Low and behold, his diaper was dry, and he immediately went to the bathroom. He hadn't gone after all. We cheered and high fived, and he was all smiles...so proud!
What a day! I think this boy is going to be potty trained much sooner than I thought. I don't know what to expect for night time, but hey, this kid has amazed me over and over. It's just fun to go along for the ride and figure it all out one step at a time.
Goodnight all! Blessings and hugs! Sleep well.

Potty Training Progress
We had a very successful day in Potty Land. Up until now, potty training has been more of potty introducing. Cooper was interested, but not enough to initiate the process each time. I merely put him on the potty at key times during the day, and he gladly took advantage of the opportunity.
Today, however, was different. Cooper came to me many times, said, "Oh no," or, "No no," and grabbed his diaper. We then rushed to the potty, and he proceeded to use it. He even did so for a poop (I know, you are so excited to read about poo), which still makes him a little uncomfortable and nervous when doing so on the potty. This all brought lots of cheers, praise, M&Ms, and a few ah-hoos (Cooper's wahoos) with hands in the air.
He is initiating the process, understands he needs to tell me when he needs to go, and has the ability to hold it until the right time to use the potty. These aren't always working in conjunction with each other every single time quite yet, but we are definitely making progress. You go Cooper. You go.

Happy Birthday Nana! Fun at the Woodland Park Zoo
Happy Birthday Kathy! We headed to Shoreline yesterday for an overnight adventure in celebration of Kathy's birthday. Upon arrival, we had a fabulous dinner, followed by good times in the backyard. It was the best, full of shreaks, squeals, and laughter.
On Saturday morning, we headed to the zoo. I hadn't been to the Woodland Park Zoo in quite some time, so it was fun to get reacquinted with the animals that call this zoo home. Cooper enjoyed exploring, and although the rain caught the tail end of our visit, our hoods and umbrellas kept us quite content. Such a fun day! :)
The elephant is barely making an appearance here, but we thought it would be a fun family photo. Then we saw it. Cooper, we know what you thought of this photo! :)
Cooper was a little more friendly with the elephant sculptures than he was witht he monkeys.
He wanted to hang out with this one. When it was time to go, he waved goodbye to this elephant. They were buds.

Catching Up On Old Posts
Since having time to blog is a bit of a luxury for me, sometimes I sit and blog about several past events at a time and publish entries that I've had saved with the hopes of editing and finishing at a later date. I usually post them with the date of the event, so even if they are new, they may not show up near the top of the page when you check in.
If you ever get bored, just take a peek in past months for some new entries. You just never know where a new entry will show up.
Thanks for reading!
